Industrial energy and district management
Senior residence Schwanden/Glarus
One platform for plant, residential comfort and administrationSiMon connects heat and cooling generation in an industrial plant with the supply, room control and consumption data management of a senior residence with around 50 residential units.
The starting point
Two very different user environments in one energy system
In Schwanden/Glarus, an industrial plant requires reliable heat and cooling supply. At the same time, a senior residence with around 50 residential units is connected to the energy network and demands high levels of room comfort, operational reliability and traceable consumption data.
Industrial generation, available surplus heat, cooling demand, individual room states and administrative operator processes therefore need to be considered together.
The system scope
From the CHP unit to the individual residential zone
SiMon combines technical energy supply with the data layer of the residential district. The platform extends from generation optimization and central zone control to providing consumption data for administration.
The implementation
Build technical coupling and operator processes together
Model generation together
Heat and cooling generation in the industrial plant were represented as one connected energy system in SiMon.
Make surplus heat usable
Surplus heat from the CHP unit is integrated into cooling generation, adding another productive use for the energy.
Integrate residential areas
Heating, cooling and ventilation in the residential units are managed through central individual-room and zone control.
Provide administration data
Consumption data and technical information become available for tenant administration and operator processes in the same platform.
The SiMon solution
Energy optimization does not end at the transfer point
Optimize industry and residential district together
SiMon evaluates optimization opportunities across the boundary between the industrial plant and the residence while considering technical availability in both areas.
Control heating, cooling and ventilation by room
Central zone control makes individual room states transparent and enables demand-based supply to the residential units.
Manage consumption data and faults centrally
Technical states, fault information and billing-related consumption data do not have to be maintained in separate systems.
Results and customer value
Multiple benefits from energy, data and shared operations
Reuse surplus heat
Heat from the CHP unit supports cooling generation and is therefore used beyond its original generation purpose.
Safeguard residential comfort centrally
Heating, cooling and ventilation can be managed for connected residential areas according to demand and with full transparency.
Support administration
Consumption data and technical operating information are available centrally, connecting plant operation with tenant administration.
Schwanden/Glarus demonstrates that SiMon does not stop at conventional system boundaries: industrial energy, residential comfort and district administration are treated as one shared process.
