Load- and forecast-based generator control with SiMon

As a follow-up to Dollnstein, Hassfurt combines a CHP unit and solar thermal energy to supply a new development – centrally controlled, demand-driven and considering expected solar yield.

The starting point

Supply a new development reliably with renewable heat

A district heating system was required for a new development in Hassfurt, combining heat from a CHP unit and a solar thermal system. Both generators have different availability and operating conditions.

The central task therefore went beyond switching individual units. Heat demand, forecast load and expected solar yield had to be combined in a coordinated generation strategy.

SiMon connects heat generators with distribution and network consumption data. Equipment management, consumption recording and technical fault management are available in one shared operating platform.

Represent the plant network

CHP, solar thermal, the heat network and consumers were modeled as one connected thermal system in SiMon.

The operating logic considers both expected heat demand and available solar yield.

SiMon coordinates generator operation based on load and forecasts instead of responding only to current limits.
