Load- and forecast-based generator control with SiMonAs a follow-up to Dollnstein, Hassfurt combines a CHP unit and solar thermal energy to supply a new development – centrally controlled, demand-driven and considering expected solar yield.
The starting point
Supply a new development reliably with renewable heat
A district heating system was required for a new development in Hassfurt, combining heat from a CHP unit and a solar thermal system. Both generators have different availability and operating conditions.
The central task therefore went beyond switching individual units. Heat demand, forecast load and expected solar yield had to be combined in a coordinated generation strategy.
The system scope
Generation, heat network and connected consumers in one system
SiMon connects heat generators with distribution and network consumption data. Equipment management, consumption recording and technical fault management are available in one shared operating platform.
The implementation
Transfer experience from Dollnstein to a new generation mix
Represent the plant network
CHP, solar thermal, the heat network and consumers were modeled as one connected thermal system in SiMon.
Forecast loads and yields
The operating logic considers both expected heat demand and available solar yield.
Control generators appropriately
SiMon coordinates generator operation based on load and forecasts instead of responding only to current limits.
Manage operations centrally
Equipment, consumption values and fault states are recorded continuously and visualized for the operator.
